After surfing the internet you're probably confused on how to buy
a memory foam topper? Here at My Rest we're going to
arm you with some information that these other guys don't want you to know
about. Thousands of customers are getting
ripped off and they don't even know that it's happening to them. It's the
classic Bait and Switch technique. Companies are marketing their toppers
at a certain density but the customer is receiving under weight foam. ie:
They are not receiving what they are paying for. How is this possible?
The main reason is that nobody tells you the weight of the topper only
the density of the topper. This leaves the customer with the chore of having
to first weigh the topper and do a mathematical calculation in order to
determine if they received what was marketed to them. Most of the time
the customer doesn't even check. Having the company give you the weight
of the topper FIRST before you buy is the smart way to buy.
Let's get two things out of the way first. - Higher Density (Heavier)
Toppers are not "Firmer" - We can make any density foam to
be as soft or as firm as we want it to be depending on the application.
For example if you wanted a 5 pound density memory foam to be used in
a chair application then we would make the foam with an ILD or IFD of
about 45lbs. The ILD number is the amount of weight it takes you to compress
a 12x12x12 piece of foam 25% of it's original height. It's used to tell
you how firm the foam is. All of our toppers have an ILD of 15 pounds.
Heavier (higher density) foam cost more because they last longer. The
heavier the foam the longer it will perform consistently. In other words,
it will retain it's feel. It won't get softer as it gets older. That
is what you're paying for. It's not uncommon for memory foam to just
turn into regular foam in a couple months because the density was so
low. As a benchmark, Tempurpedic's Tempur Material is a 5 pound Foam.
BEFORE YOU BUY ANY TOPPER MAKE SURE THEY GIVE YOU THE
WEIGHT OF THE FOAM!! - This will be like pulling teeth because they won't
give it or they just don't know. Do not buy just by comparing advertised
densities. Buy by comparing the weight of the foams!
We built an easy to use density calculator for you to
use. All you have to do is plug in the dimensions of the topper and the
weight and it will give you the exact density of the memory foam topper.
Now remember, don't assume that all sellers are selling full cut toppers.
Make sure you plug in the exact dimensions as most companies are selling
short cut foam. Click
here to use our density calculator.
You'll be shocked on how difficult this will be. The
simple reason is that if you know the weight of the topper you will find
out that they are trying to sell you lower quality foam by passing it
off as high density foam.
Even if they pass they density calculator test over the
phone, be sure to check the density of the foam when you receive it using
our Density
Calculator - Be sure to weigh the topper without the box. Don't just
go by the UPS shipping weight.
If you buy a topper by the WEIGHT and not by a density number then you'll
be able to keep yourself from getting ripped off.
Here at My Rest, we give you the weight of each our toppers up front.
The weights of each topper is located on the product title just above
the image after you click on the GREEN MORE INFO button
by the price. The weights are also posted below.
