What are the advantages of Visco Memory Foam?

  • Visco-elastic memory foam material is a high-density memory foam unlike any other on the market.
  • Five times more dense than regular foams, the material is temperature sensitive: below 60 degrees, the mattress becomes firmer, but at body temperature it becomes quite soft, molding itself to the body's shape.
  • Since the contact area is distributed evenly, pressure is relieved. This is the best mattress to adapt to the sleeper, instead of forcing the sleeper to adapt to the bedding.
  • The material is so effective at relieving pressure and promoting comfort, that clinical studies have shown that tossing and turning during an average night's sleep is reduced from a normal 80-100 times on a standard mattress to an astonishing 18 times on Memory Foam.

Sensus® Memory Foam

We use 5lb Sensus® Memory Foam, by Foamex®, one of the country's largest foam producers. 5lb Sensus® Memory Foam was designed to reduce stress and pressure points found in other mattresses. Its fine cell structure can retain body heat.  5lb Sensus® Memory Foam provides the pressure relief and the quality.  Remember the higher the density the longer the foam will retain it's visco elastic properties.  For comparison purposes, Tempur-Pedic memory foam is a 5lb density foam.

The Foamex® VPF process ensures that every piece of 5lb Sensus® Memory Foam meets their standard of comfort, reliability, and longevity.

Why Buy an Air Bed?

We have designed our air beds with the following goals in mind.

1. Comfort - Our air beds will allow you to adjust the firmness and softness for each person. This is the basic concept of all air beds no matter who makes them. We go a step further with our tri zone mattresses (read more below) We are so confident that we offer a 30 day trial on our N-Series beds.

2. Cleanliness - Our pillowtop's are removable and reversible. This allows you to be able to dry clean, beat with a broom or just vacuum the pillowtop on both sides. The air chambers can also be wiped down. If you suffer from allergies these beds are a must.

3. Longevity - An air bed should be the last bed you purchase since the air chambers don't wear out like regular spring beds. We all know that if we rotate our tires we will get more "life out of our tires" the same is true with pillowtop's but not all air bed pillowtop's can do this. Ours Can! When you flip your pillowtop for Summer and Winter you are also extending the life of the bed each time. What a wonderful concept. We also do not sew in any foam inside of the pillowtop, our beds are modular so replacement part cost is minimal if needed (more can be learned by clicking on the pictures below....

An airbed is probably the most intelligent purchase when it comes to buying a bed. We market our airbed's in our retail store as BEDS FOR LIFE. - Here is a list of reasons why you should buy an air bed.

Q.- How does an airbed feel?
A- Depending on what's on top of the air chambers determines the general "feel" of the product. Generally if they have pillowtop's, they feel like high end conventional mattresses.

Q - Ok, if they feel like a conventional mattress then why would I need to buy an air bed?
A - First of all, whether you're in a store or shopping online, there's still a margin of risk that you're taking when buying a mattress sight unseen or one that you only laid on for 5 minutes. What happens when you get it home is the real test. What if you don't like it after a couple of nights? The sales person will only have one suggestion for you and that is to try it for a longer period of time. What else can he say? The only other answer would be to bring it back if they even let you and "try" another mattress. The frustrating part was that you really thought you would like the mattress. It felt great in the showroom. How are you going to pick something else out when the only way to know if it's going to work or not is to try it in your home. The pain in your back isn't helping out either. It's not telling you that you need a firmer mattress nor is it saying that you need a softer mattress. All it's saying is that it hurts when you wake up and that the mattress is the culprit. The other drawback is that this exchange, (if they let you) is probably going to be the only one that you're allowed to do so you. So the stress to get the next one just right is overwhelming.

The advantage of an air bed is that if after a couple of nights you are experiencing a back pain you can at a touch of a button make the firmer or softer. In a sense you have the ability to change the mattress to another mattress without having to take it back. This is the main reason why doctor's prescribe air beds to patients that need a new bed. They have more of change to be correct then if they had prescribed an innerspring mattress. The benefit's don't just stop there. Since the air mattresses are separate each person can tune into his or hers favorite settings. As we age and our body changes, you are able to "change" the mattress without having to buy a new one... what a concept.

Q- I really like the feel of a memory foam mattress, can I get that with an air bed?
A- Yes. Most people don't realize that memory foam mattresses usually only consist of 2 - 4 inches of memory foam. The rest is just regular foam. The memory foam layer is laminated on top of a block of support foam. With an airbed we replace the standard block of foam with air chambers. The air chambers allow you to fine tune the feel of the bed to your exact specifications but still enjoy the benefits of memory foam.

Q- Why do your Air Beds Beds For Life?
A- Not only do our airbed's enhance the quality of your life but they should be the last mattress you should ever buy. Just because the brakes on your car goes bad doesn't mean you have to go out and buy a whole new car. What if you wanted a new radio...would you think it would be fair that just because you wanted a new radio you were forced to buy a whole new car? We don't think so either. That is why all of our airbed's are modular. Every single piece removable and replaceable. Let's start from the top.

The pillowtop cover takes the most abuse. We use the finest material (Lyocell) which you can read about below. Inside of the cover we insert a material called quiltflex. This is used in place of fiber fill so to prevent body impressions. The pillowtop cover is actually TWO covers in one. It's a reversible cover that allows you to sleep on both sides. One side is labeled Summer and the other is labeled Winter. Just under the Lyocell fabric on the Summer side is Silk and just under the Winter side is wool. We recommend that you flip the cover and sleep on the appropriate side every six months. Flipping the cover is a matter up just unzipping the top layer and turning it over. This important feature also allows you evenly wear the pillowtop cover. This reversible design should keep you from ever seeing visible wear and tear. However, if you ever wanted to replace just the top cover you can!

Right underneath the pillowtop cover is the section that houses the memory foam layer. What's nice about this design is that you can actually touch and feel the memory foam layer. Most companies glue or sew the memory foam layer into the pillowtop cover. This only increases the cost in case you wanted to change or replace either the cover or memory foam. If later you wanted to put in a firmer layer or maybe wanted to switch to latex foam, you can.

Unzip the cavity which houses the heart of the air bed will reveal some amazing features often overlooked by most competitors. The first thing you will notice is how nicely the air chambers fit inside of the foam side rails. This is because since the air chambers when inflated push out from the sides, we designed our side rails to be concaved to allow the shape of the air chambers to fit perfectly. This patented design relieves pressure from the side rail supports but in turn allows for about 25% more sleeping surface. The rails are covered in a non stretch fabric and utilize a sling design. Without this sling design the side rails would be held together by the zippered cover. Hard to believe but it's true. When the foam isn't covered they tend to break down rather quickly because they react with air and the air chambers that they touch. Of course all of our side rails are fully replaceable in case you happen to lose one. They are 2.0 lb density side rails and have been tested to last over 50 years so you won't have to worry about sitting on the sides just to put on your shoes.

We also upgrade all of our air chambers from the industry standard of rubber air chambers to medical grade nylon urethane air chambers. This material is thin but can hold the weight of a Hummer. One of the benefits of this material by being this is that it's able to mold to the shape of your body better and quicker then rubber air chambers. Rubber air chambers are usually about 24 gauge thick. We think this is too thick in order to mold to the exact shape of ones body contours. The other drawback to rubber is rubber rot and of course Mold and Mildew. The only recourse on rubber air chambers that develop mold is to try and clean it off with some sort of bleach cleaner. Our Nylon Urethane chambers will NEVER develop mold and his the only material used in the hospital for air mattresses. Plus our chambers are odor free and won't smell like new tires when you get them.

Our nylon urethane air chambers are also available as the industries only tri zone air system. This system allows one side to have 3 air compartments. One for the head, lumbar and foot region. All of this is controlled with our state of the art inflation system. Our digital remote allows you to find your favorite setting. You can also program the remote to remember your favorite setting. To take it a step further all of our remotes have a second memory button. Most women like the bed to look as full as possible when no one is in it. Hit the memory 2 button and it will fill the air chambers to it's fullest capacity automatically. Once it's time for bed, hit the memory 1 button and it will go right back to your favorite position.

Our Nimbus Airbed now includes the latest in sleep technology, the Intel Air Digital Pump. Click the picture to learn the secret hospitals have known for years.

MYREST.COM's exclusive patented 3 zone mattresses. Most airbed's control just the left and right side. to make a mattress softer you let the air out of the mattress. The only problem with this feature is the first thing to sink down is your lower back and torso. A hammocking effect is created. Our Nimbus bed is equipped with 3 separate mattresses on each side, at a touch of a button you can soften or firm up your head and feet area or use the other button to apply support right where most back pain occurs, the lumbar region. This feature almost guarantees that anyone should be able to find a comfort level for themselves. Our air chambers do not have a problem that with mold which is common with air beds which use vulcanized rubber air chambers.. Click the picture to learn more! Click here for a Video
The Nimbus Air Bed has 2" of 5.3lb Premium Sensus Brand Visco Memory Foam. The Visco Foam is added for the ultimate in pressure relief and comfort. The air chambers provide a customizable support system, but the memory foam adds pressure-relieving material right where you need it.
4 Way Stretch Lyocell Fabric.

Background

Lyocell was developed by Courtaulds Fibers (now Acordis Cellulosic Fibers), an international supplier of rayon. It entered the consumer market in 1991. The properties and production processes were unique enough for the Federal Trade Commission to designate it as a separate fiber group. The trade name for lyocell produced by Acordis is Tencel®. Lenzing Fibers, another major manufacturer of rayon, has also entered the lyocell market. This product is marketed as Lenzing lyocell. An improved fiber, in terms of performance and properties, lyocell is also friendly to the environment. Virtually all of the chemicals used in the production process are reclaimed. The resulting fiber, lyocell, is both biodegradable and recyclable.

Properties and Characteristics

Lyocell is a manufactured fiber, but it is not synthetic. It is made from wood pulp harvested from tree farms for this purpose. Because it is made from a plant material, it is cellulosic and possesses many properties of other cellulose fibers, such as cotton, linen, ramie, and rayon - another manufactured but non-synthetic fiber.

In many ways, lyocell is more similar to cotton than it is to rayon. Like other cellulosic fibers, it is breathable, absorbent, and generally comfortable to wear. In fact, lyocell is more absorbent than cotton and silk, but less so than wool, linen, and rayon. It can take high ironing temperatures, but like other cellulosics will scorch, not melt, if burned, and is susceptible to mildew and damage by silverfish. Cellulosic fibers are not resilient, which means they wrinkle. Lyocell has moderate resiliency. It does not wrinkle as badly as rayon, cotton, or linen, and some wrinkles will fall out if the garment is hung in a warm moist area, such as a bathroom after a hot shower. A light pressing will renew the appearance, if needed. Also, slight shrinkage is typical in lyocell garments. Stability, overall, is similar to that of silk and better than cotton or linen.

Lyocell has strength and durability. It is the strongest cellulosic fiber when dry, even stronger than cotton or linen and is stronger than cotton when wet. Lyocell is much stronger than rayon when wet. This property of high wet strength usually determines the extent to which fabrics can be machine washed successfully (see Care below).

Other desirable properties of lyocell are its luster and soft drape which makes it an aesthetically pleasing fiber. Since it is a manufactured fiber, the diameter and length of fibers can be varied. Lyocell can be made into microfibers (very fine fibers), offering depth and body to fabrics combined with luxurious drape. Short staple length fibers give a cotton-like look to fabrics. Long filament fibers are successful in silk-like end uses. Lyocell blends well with other fibers including wool, silk, rayon, cotton, linen, nylon, and polyester. It successfully takes many finishes, both functional and those designed to achieve different surface effects, and dyes easily. Overall, lyocell is a versatile fiber with many desirable properties.

Uses

Lyocell was initially marketed as and can generally be found in high end and designer apparel. Production costs are greater than for cotton, making lyocell more expensive in finished garments. However, as production increases and costs decrease, expect to see more lyocell in moderately priced apparel. Lyocells soft drape and luxurious hand make it very desirable in women's fashion garments as well as men's shirts, particularly apparel traditionally made from silk. Other lyocell end uses include denim, chino, and chambray casual wear. Look for these fabrics in 100% lyocell as well as in blends with cotton, rayon, or polyester.
